Now, it is almost inevitable to remove plastic straws from our daily habits. Because the waste caused by plastic straws is incalculable. In the United States alone, 500 million straws are thrown away every day. According to one less straw, these pipes can circle the earth two and a half times together.
People began to act. They told the waiter not to supply straws anymore. Starting this summer, Seattle will ban all businesses from selling plastic-laden food and beverages, including straws; California has a bill in the pipeline that requires restaurants to supply straws only when customers ask for them; and Scotland plans to eliminate plastic straws by the end of 2019.
McDonald's also responded positively to the call. In more than 1300 stores across the UK, McDonald's has replaced plastic straws with biodegradable paper straws, and they are only available when customers ask for drinks. It's also a test to see how people feel about paper straws. Once McDonald's succeeds in Britain, it will be promoted around the world.

Harm of plastic pipette
Although the pipette can be recycled, the real recovery is very few. We usually throw suction pipes on the roadside, and then they are sent to landfills for disposal. And they pose the greatest threat to the oceans. Although they are not the biggest source of pollution in our waterways, fish and birds suffer. The straw is small, so marine life is easy to swallow. Plastic objects such as straws and forks can even get stuck in turtles'noses.
According to Strawless Ocean, plastic was found in the stomachs of 71% of seabirds and 30% of turtles. These are made by humans, and we could have avoided them - when these animals eat plastic, their mortality rate reaches 50%.
Replacement of plastic pipette
Although McDonald's uses a paper straw instead, it's not the only option, but it's better than throwing away plastic straws.
